Christ Consciousness – A Biblical Perspective
The purpose of this article is to explain Christ Consciousness from a Biblical perspective and attempt to demystify and approach it from a Christian perspective. Christ consciousness is simply living with the same Consciousness as Christ, hence having the mind of Christ.
Who hath known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him, but we have the mind of Christ. | 1 Corinthians 2:16
Christ Consciousness is simply the renewed mind in Christ. Christ consciousness is something that is attainable for every believer and is expected for us in our spiritual growth in walking with the Holy Spirit.
Many people often come to Jesus and accept the work that he’s done on the cross for them, but they stop there. They don’t take him at his word when he says that “it is better that I go away, for greater things shall you do than me” this is through the power of the Holy Spirit.
When Jesus was here walking the earth in the flesh he was essentially bound by space and time and could only be in one place at one time but now that Jesus has gone he has sent forth the comforter which is the Holy Spirit, the helper, to teach, edify and convict the life of every person on the planet. This is a personal relationship that everyone can encounter.
Romans 12:2 says do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is his good pleasing and perfect will.
The renewed mind is the transformed mind. In times past we were alienated from God because of our evil thoughts and have become enemies of God in our own minds, but the mind of Christ does not see us for who we were but for who we are.
When God sees us, he sees us through the redemptive power of the Cross. To have the renewed mind we must daily walk in the spirit of Christ, this is our spiritual relationship with the father.
Romans 8:13 through 15 says for if you live after the flesh you shall die but if ye through the spirit do mortify the deeds of the body ye shall live for as many as are led by the Spirit of God they are the sons of God for you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you have received the spirit of adoption whereby we cry Abba Father.
Galatians 5:18 says but if you be led by the spirit ye are not under the law now the works of the flesh are manifest which are these adultery, fornication, uncleanness ,lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, sedition, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like of the which I tell you before as i have also told you in times past that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God; but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance, against such there is no law and they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lust if we live in the spirit let us also walk in the spirit.
This verse is letting us know that by walking in the spirit and spending time with the Holy Spirit you’re going to produce this fruit; the love, the joy, the peace, the patience, goodness, gentleness, faith, these things are going to naturally flow from you; this is the fruit of the Spirit; and also mentioned before we have the fruit or works of the flesh, idolatry, witchcraft, these things; when it comes to being led of the Spirit.
Walk in the spirit — when you look up the Greek translation for the word walk there it’s very interesting mister Greek word stoicheō which literally means a cadence or to march in military rank and keep step essentially as in a military rank where you would march in formation. When the spirit says go left you go left, when the spirit says go right you go right, when the spirit says stand still you stand still, you are being led by the spirit.
This is how close we are to be with the father’s heart, this is Christ consciousness, walking in the same consciousness as Christ.
The renewed mind also strengthens and sharpens our faith. The Bible defines faith in Hebrews 11:1 which says now faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.
The renewed mind finds it much easier to believe God for bigger things.
The renewed mind expects miracles and expects to bring about change.
It actually plays on the offense rather than just the defense simply responding to demonic attacks and setbacks in the spiritual realms.
The renewed mind through faith moves us from victim to victor as we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
Through faith, we must understand that expectation brings about my manifestation, the world says that if I see it then I will believe it, faith says if I believe it then I will see it. This is why the scripture says that “as a man thinketh in his heart, so shall he be”.
Life works in such a way that you always find whatever it is that you’re looking for. We all know those people who point out the negative in everything they always see the cup half empty, and they are not very optimistic at all, life always seems to be working against them. Seeing things this way seems to keep them stuck in this perpetual cycle.
Your thoughts create your reality, this is why we should be creating with the renewed mind
working with the Spirit of God versus working against, which seems to be the default setting in our fallen nature.
The Bible says that you shall receive power after that the Holy Spirit has come upon you, the word spoken of here is the Greek word Dunamis, which literally translates to miracle-working power.
This is true Christ consciousness, not some new-age mumbo-jumbo, not some Christian fear based spirituality which is honestly cloaked in superstition. Once you are filled with the Holy Spirit you have the power and authority to go about doing good works being witnesses for Christ and bringing about change on the earth.
The Bible says that all creation is waiting for the manifestation of the sons and daughters of God to arise. The whole world is waiting on you, and you don’t even know it.
Don’t allow any carnal minded Christian to rob you of your spiritual authority your spiritual gifts and Dunamis miracle-working power.
The prophets disciples and apostles were all very spiritual individuals. Spirituality is not demonic, spirituality is a tool to assist us in walking in the spirit of Christ.
Christianity started off as a spiritual practice in the east and then moved to become a religion in the West. In times past we’ve been led by men preaching, beckoning people to believe their revelation and experience with God, when in fact God wishes to encounter each and every one of us.
Christ consciousness is the renewed mind.
Christ consciousness is faith in God, you can go as deep and believe God for whatever it is that your heart desires and nothing shall by any means be impossible unto you.
