Is the Third Eye in The Bible? If so, what does The Bible say about opening the Third Eye?
The Third eye is mentioned all throughout the Bible. It just uses different words.
I receive this question almost more than any other when speaking about spirituality. What does the Bible say about opening the Third Eye? Is it dangerous? Is it demonic? Will I get possessed? etc.
I’ve noticed that there are differing opinions all throughout Christendom. In this article, I address what the Third Eye IS and what it is NOT.
The Bible does not mention the third by name. It does make mention of it referring to the “Mind’s Eye” and a few other references.
What Is The Third Eye?
The Third Eye is the Pineal Gland that is located in the center of the brain. The Pineal Gland gets its name because of its pine cone shape. Its function is to produce melatonin, which allows the body to relax before sleep. The Third Eye also produces natural DMT (Dimethyltryptamine). This allows the mind to enter into the dream state.
This DMT allows individuals to see images through rapid eye movement, which is how we dream at night. Many mystics have learned how to tap into the dream state. They enter hypnotic trances which is literally biohacking the mind to enter into this state.
These mystics understood that the dream state is one of the biggest ways that God speaks to individuals, and by tapping into the trance state they could commune with God.
In Eastern tradition, the Third Eye is recognized as the 6th Chakra Ajna. By opening it, one can achieve enlightenment.
From a Biblical standpoint, we are enlightened after receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit and become “Illuminated” with the light of Christ. This illumination or awakening from slumber is not the end of spiritual enlightenment but the beginning.
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. | 1 Corinthians 2:14-16
What Does The Bible Say About Opening The Third Eye?
Jesus says The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! | Matthew 6:22-23.
This saying is in direct correlation with being double minded versus allowing the mind’s eye to be single and focused on God, which is peace, harmony and light. The third eye is the place where God meets with us. It is also the door by which an individual is able to “see” into the spirit realm by way of spiritual gifts such as the discernment of spirits, quickening, words of knowledge, words of wisdom, dreams and so on.
Jacob At Peniel Represents The Minds Eye
One key scripture to look at concerning the Third Eye Pineal Glad is in Genesis 32:22-32 where Jacob wrestled with God. While Jacob was at the river Jabbok alone, he wrestles with God and is left with a bruised hip and a blessing. During his struggle back and forth with God, Jacob grabs hold of God and says that he will not release until he blesses him, and that’s exactly what Jacob received. After this encounter, Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, “It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.”
The Peniel or Pineal Gland is where each and every individual wrestles with God. It is where the battle between good and evil are fought within the mind of each and every person.
The Holy Spirit works with our conscious. God’s law is written upon our hearts, guiding us on the narrow path between right and wrong, good and evil. No matter what an individual does during his waking hours, when his head hits the pillow each night, when his eyes close he will give an account for all the things he was done with his time for that day.
This is also said about our time on Earth into eternity. By keeping our hands clean and heart pure, we may boldly stand before the throne of grace. The mind of Christ allows us to maintain with a clean conscience. If an individual continues sinning after the grace of God’s conviction, he will be given chances to repent. If the individual does not, then that person is given over to a reprobate mind.
This is why the Bible says, “Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” Hebrews 3:15.
Should I Open My Third Eye?
Contrary to popular belief, there is no “Opening The Third Eye”. Everyone is born with their Third Eye already open but over time it becomes calloused / calcified. Much like a muscle, it really comes down to use it or lose. If a person’s muscle isn’t being used over time, the music will begin to atrophied and waste away. This is a natural process as the body will allot more energy to the areas that are needed most to function, “Out of Sight, Out of Mind” literally.
Jesus said that we must become like little children in order to inherit the kingdom of heaven. The imagination of a child is full of awe and wonder, there is also a sense of trust with children. They do not worry where their next mean will come from because their parents will provide.
The same is to be said for the believer, we must operate with faith and trust that our heavenly Father will take care of us. This is key when walking in the spirit. It is love and integrity that allows us to grow into mature sons and daughters of God, and it is love that activates the faith that we have been graced with. As we grow closer and closer to the Father’s heart, we will begin to see things the way that He sees. We will begin to love the way that He loves. As our vision becomes clearer and clearer, we will be more apt to be used in the spirit and discern between right and wrong and the perfect will of God.
What Happens When You Open Your It?
Through spiritual practice and walking in the spirit, you will naturally begin to be able to see clearer in the spirit through your Third Eye. Most of the practice is working though and undoing religious, cultural and social programming. God uses the imagination and communicates directly with believers though His still small voice. We are able to interpret what God is saying though spiritual practice.
It’s not that God has to step down to our level and speak to us because He is always speaking to his children. It is our job to learn to hear His voice and follow.
By walking in the spirit, we live at a higher vibrational frequency and our vision becomes less clouded with the things that used to cloud or sight.
Through opening the Third Eye, many people have said to be able to see things in or around other individuals. This could be demonic entities, angels or even sign and symbols in the spirit which is a huge way that God speaks. The prophets in the Bible were also known as Seers, and a Seers job is to “See”. Seers are able to look ahead and see what God is doing.
They are also very empathic, being able to “feel” what God is doing well. All of these spiritual gifitings and abilities are filtered through the Third eye. It is simply the way in which we see in the spirit.
Is The Third Eye The Mark Of The Beast?
As ridiculous as this may sound, some people believe that “Opening the Third Eye” is the forbidden fruit mentioned of in the Bible in the Book of Genesis. They get this idea because when Adam and Eve ate of the tree of knowledge, they became “like God”. The thing is that they believed the lie of the serpent who told them they would “Become” like God in whose image they were already created.
Many Christians who believe this to be true are quick to condemn any knowledge or belief outside their current realm of understanding.
Modern organized religion have been very quick to demonize anything that they don’t understand. The Bible compels us to seek and search after the truth, to obtain knowledge, wisdom and understanding. It is what we do with that knowledge that makes it corrupt or not. Opening the Third eye is not the mark of the Beast spoken about in the book of revelation. Those who have their third eye open are able to see in the spirit and judge spiritual matters.
But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. | 1 Corinthians 2:15
Does Opening The Pineal Gland Open Me Up To Demonic Possession?
Not at all, sin opens a person up to demonic possession. Many people who engage in spiritual practices that seem to be Eastern in origin are afraid that if they meditate, stretch the wrong way and accidentally do Yoga they will become demon possessed. The truth is that Christianity in its conception was a spiritual practice from the East before it became a religion in the West.
When understanding what does or should true Christianity look like, we must look back to the East. Christianity and the Hebraic traditions were very spiritual and focused on the mystical union that a person has with God. Christianity moreover is entering the door to commune with God through the finished work of Jesus Christ.
It Is Already Inside You
Jesus says that the kingdom of heaven is within an individual. This means that we must go within to commune with God. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. There is nothing that is within your beautiful anatomy that will allow you to become demon possessed. However, with great power / knowledge comes great responsibility. If you use spiritual practice to harm or manipulate others, you do open yourself to demonic possession or oppression. Manipulation is witchcraft. This form of control is specifically condemned within the Bible. Many in Christian churches are participating in this type of manipulation, from behind the pulpit.
You are fearfully and wonderfully made.
If you use these sacred spiritual tools and practices to communicate with demons and lower level entities, you could be susceptible to demonic trickery and counterfeit spirits. Jesus is the door that we must all enter in through prayer and devotion. When you enter in through this gate, you can be sure that you are protected by The Holy Spirit. This always allows a person to encounter the beauty and the depths of God’s love through inward ,and outward communion.
